Urban overheating is an increasing problem as cities grow and accumulate more thermal mass and heat sources. In urban areas, vegetation and evaporation are suppressed due to the waterproof ground cover. The aim of the project is to form a cooling hub located in the densely populated area of Guzelyali, Izmir that people can benefit from during the summer. By collecting, distributing, storing and reusing water from impermeable surfaces, an environment is created where it provides refreshment through various water activities. The cooling hub creates an escape point for local people, thanks to the waterway and elevated vegetation connected to the roof by columns.
Kentsel aşırı ısınma, şehirler büyüdükçe ve daha fazla termal kütle ve ısı kaynağı biriktirdikçe artan bir sorun haline geliyor. Kentsel alanlarda su geçirmez zemin örtüsü nedeniyle bitki örtüsü ve buharlaşma bastırılır. Projenin amacı İzmir'in yoğun nüfuslu Güzelyalı bölgesinde insanların yaz aylarında faydalanabileceği bir soğutma merkezi oluşturmaktır. Suyun geçirimsiz yüzeylerden toplanması, dağıtılması, depolanması ve yeniden kullanılmasıyla çeşitli su aktiviteleriyle ferahlık sağladığı bir ortam yaratılmaktadır. Soğutma merkezi, çatıya sütunlarla bağlanan su yolu ve yükseltilmiş bitki örtüsü sayesinde yerel halk için bir kaçış noktası oluşturuyor.
